Max Kisman behoorde tot de eerste Nederlandse vormgevers die de Mac gingen gebruiken in de jaren 80. Ook daarna heeft hij consequent gebruikt gemaakt van nieuwe media en nieuwe technologische ontwikkelingen.
Maar wat ik inspirerend vind aan zijn werk is dat zijn zoektocht naar technieken onderdeel is van zijn zoektocht naar vormen, en daar uiteindelijk ondergeschikt aan is.

And I put this link in big letters because this is very exciting. It is the archive of the aforementioned online magazine TYP. The later issues also have text in English. It’s a unique possibility to have insight into the world of digital typography in the 90ies, when designers were very actively experimenting with new technologies and their impact on their profession. This is in stark contrast with today, since most designers leave it up to the nerds to be busy with technology. And complain about the limitations of the technologies that they have to design for. Which is unfair, both to technology and to the nerds. Programmers are not trained visually and have no way of knowing what it is that we want our tools to do.
